After a summer that felt like an eternity, the Premier League has returned with a bang and is back to its very best after just three match weeks. The transfer window is now closed which means we now know the players that will be competing in England’s top flight until January. Premier League sides have voted to see the transfer window end before the start of the season in the coming years as it can test the commitment of their star players. We take a look at the ideal bets ahead of the rest of the campaign.
Manchester United are looking like the early season favourites with three wins, three clean sheets and 10 goals after their opening games. However, they still aren’t backed by Sky Bet to win the league as their Manchester rivals are currently at 11/8 for their third league title. United are second at 2/1 with Chelsea (5/1) and Liverpool (11/1) following them for the four Champions League places. Huddersfield who currently occupy third, will get you 750/1 for the title at Sky Bet, where if you download the sky bet app on Android and bet £5, you will get a £20 free bet.
The Drop Zone
The relegation candidates have also began to take shape at the bottom end of the table with Slaven Bilic’s West Ham currently propping up the table. They are one of three teams who are yet to pick up any points, along with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth but it is newly-promoted Brighton and Hove Albion who are odds on to go down with Sky Bet odds. They’re evens to finish the season in the drop zone, closely followed by Burnley at 6/4. After their blistering start, it is surprising to see Huddersfield are third favourites to go down at 7/4. There are several teams in the league that could face the drop in 35 games time so to pick out a team to bet on is one of the hardest Premier League bets to get involved in.
Who will win the top goal scorer accolade in England’s top flight is always a discussion worth having and with Harry Kane winning the award in two consecutive campaigns, there is only one player who looks more likely. £75 million signing Romelu Lukaku has already notched three goals, making him the joint top scorer in the league along with Sadio Mane. Lukaku is 9/4 to bag the most goals with Kane coming close at 4/1 after another goalless August according to the Sky Bet odds.
Manchester City strikers, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are 8/1 and 9/1 respectively. It could go to any of the top strikers and it’s especially hard to call it after just three games, where new signings, Alvaro Morata, Steve Mounie and Mohamed Salah have all managed two goals.
Liverpool have looked particularly impressive in their first few games and it’s the combination of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane that has been brilliant. They have plenty of problems at the back but after Phillipe Coutinho failed to force a move to Barcelona in the summer, he will add another dimension to the attack with Adam Lallana still out injured.
But is undoubtedly Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United that look the strongest going into the second month of the 2017/18 campaign. With the addition of Lukaku, they look like a completely different proposition and despite only beating Leicester City 2-0, they outplayed them across the pitch for the 90 minutes. Paul Pogba is playing like a new signing after he struggled to light up English football last term and that’s why they are considered by many as the strongest team in the Premier League.
