With the 2016/17 PFA team of the year being announced today there were plenty of star players who missed the cut.

Chelsea and Tottenham dominated the side with, Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante, David Luiz and Gary Cahill representing the Blues. For Spurs it was Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Harry Kane who made the team.

No player outside the top seven in the Premier League made the team, the first time this has happened since the 2012/13 season.

The remaining members of the 2016/17 team were Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United’s David De Gea and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.

But who were the star players that missed out on the side and had a case for being in the PFA team of the year?
