Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is considering handing in a formal transfer request to force a move from the club, according to Metro.
Sanchez has just one year left on his contract at the Emirates and is reportedly unhappy at the club after the Gunners missed out on Champions League football.
Arsene Wenger has strengthened his squad with the addition of £54m striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to match Sanchez’s ambitions.
The Chilean forward has attracted the interest of Manchester City and Paris St Germain, but Wenger is adamant the former Barcelona winger will not be sold this summer.
However, if Sanchez puts in a transfer request per reports, the Gunners would struggle to hold onto their prized asset.
He recently admitted he wants to play in the Champions League – something which City and PSG could both offer him.
Both clubs would also be able to increase Sanchez’s wages significantly and give him the chance to play in two of the best squads in Europe.
City have spent over £150m on new players this summer as Pep Guardiola gears up for his second season in England while PSG are rumoured with a record-breaking £200m move for Barcelona superstar, Neymar.
Sanchez netted 24 goals and registered ten assists in the Premier League last season, but Arsenal could only finish in fifth; being pipped to the final Champions League spot by Liverpool.
Despite winning the FA Cup, Sanchez is still looking to engineer a move away from the Emirates.
If he leaves the club, it could trigger a domino effect with stars such as Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also in the last year of their contracts in London.
