Chelsea have come to an agreement to sign Roma striker, Edin Dzeko, this summer according to reports in Spain.

The Blues targeted a forward in January and the Bosnian was reportedly top of Antonio Conte’s wish list.

Ultimately, the former Manchester City forward opted to stay in Italy but reports suggested Chelsea were likely to rekindle their interest when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

Roma chief executive, Umberto Gambini claimed the club would not allow their star forward to leave.

“It’s a vital player for us, we are happy to have him with us,” Gandini said.

“We could have sold him, we evaluated everything out, in the end, we decided to continue together.

“He is so important for our style of play, even when he doesn’t score. We are so happy with his performances.”

Now, Spanish publication – Gol Digital – have reported that the Blues have come to an ‘agreement’ which will see Dzeko return to the Premier League in the summer.

Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in the 32-year-old but Chelsea remain the favourites to land his signature which could see Madrid turn to Robert Lewandowski instead.

The arrival of Dzeko could cut Michy Batshuayi’s career at Chelsea short after being allowed to leave on loan to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Dzeko made over 150 appearances for Manchester City before departing to the Serie A in 2015.

He has netted 66 goals in 127 appearances for Roma.
