Chelsea are set to rival Real Madrid for the signature of AC Milan goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports from Corriere Dello Sport.
The 19-year-old has been a mainstay between the sticks for the Italian giants despite his young age, and his performances have attracted the attention of Europe’s elite.
Despite a summer of heavy investment, Milan find themselves in sixth place in the Serie A with reports suggesting Donnarumma is angling for a move at the end of the season.
Former Liverpool stopper, Pepe Reina, recently completed a medical with the club and will complete his move to the San Siro in the summer – casting further doubt over Donnarumma’s future.
Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, is reportedly keen to bring the Italian to Stamford Bridge to rival Thibaut Courtois for the Chelsea number one jersey.
They will face strong competition from Real Madrid who are keen to make the Italian there next ‘Galactico’ and replace Keylor Navas.
Donnarumma is managed by super-agent Mino Raiola who has reportedly fallen out with the Milan hierarchy which would make a transfer in the summer even more likely.
Paris St Germain are also long-term admirers of Donnarumma and are likely to be interested in bringing the youngster to Paris.
