Manuel Akanji – FC Basel

Despite the record fee spent on Van Dijk, Klopp could also be set to move for Basel defender, Manuel Akanji, according to the Independent. Akanji is highly rated in his native Switzerland and was a key performer in Basel’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League. Joel Matip has struggled with injuries so far this season and following Dejan Lovren’s inconsistent performances, another centre-back could be on Klopp’s wish list. The Reds are prepared to wait until summer to make their move but Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the 22-year-old which could force Liverpool’s hand.

David Brooks – Sheffield United

Klopp has placed great trust in his youngsters so far this season with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez playing a key role in their season so far. According to the Mirror, Liverpool are interested in Sheffield United’s David Brooks – who has emerged as one of the country’s most promising talents. The 20-year-old’s performances have seen him break into the first-team at Bramall Lane and he scored his first goal for the club in the Steel City derby against Sheffield Wednesday. He made his full Wales debut earlier this year and despite signing a new contract with the Blades, he has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs; with Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool reportedly interested.

Kevin Trapp – Paris St Germain

After another costly error by Simon Mignolet against Arsenal, it seems that Liverpool will be in search of a new goalkeeper yet again. Klopp opted to sign Loris Karius from Mainz to seemingly replace the Belgian but the German’s shaky start to life in England has seen him drop to number two. Many keepers have been rumoured with a move but according to the Express, PSG’s Kevin Trapp could be top of the list. The German has played second fiddle to Alphonse Areola in France this season and rumours continue to circulate that the Parisians are gearing up a huge money move for AC Milan goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, which would make Trapp surplus to requirements. It’s likely the Reds will wait until summer before addressing their goalkeeping problem when better options are available.

Other Rumoured Transfer Targets

Julian Draxler – Paris St Germain

Hirving Lozano – PSV Eindhoven

Stefan De Vrij – Lazio
