Manchester United are closing on Inter Milan winger, Ivan Perisic, according to Sky Sports News reporter – Kaveh Solhekol.
Jose Mourinho has identified the Croatian international as the perfect addition to his squad as he looks to return the Red Devils to the top of English football.
Perisic enjoyed a sensational season for Inter last campaign, scoring 11 goals and registering 11 assists as well as creating 61 chances for his team-mates.
His goal return from the wing interests Mourinho who is looking to inject some fresh blood into his squad after allowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave the club.
Despite United’s interest, Inter have been adamant their star forward is not for sale at any price, but reports suggest Perisic’s head has been turned by the lure of Old Trafford.
Sky Sports’ Solhekol revealed on Twitter that Inter’s stance might have softened writing: “Spalletti gives a strong hint Perisic wants to join Man United: ‘I want to keep him (Perisic), but we must consider the option of the club and the player’.”
Inter will not want to keep an unhappy player at the club and United would hold a stronger hand in negotiation if Perisic pressed for a move to England.
The Italian club has valued the 28-year-old at around £40m with United reportedly willing to meet their asking fee.
Rumours have also circulated that Anthony Martial could move the other way if Perisic does agree on a move to Manchester.
United have already spent £100m on recruits this summer; bringing in Romelu Lukaku from Everton and Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
