The midfielder managed to stay nearly injury free all of last season, making 27 appearances for the seaside club. The reason he moved south wasn’t that the player wanted to leave, it’s because he wasn’t included in the England squad and needed to get some playing time to get back into the international set up.
Wilshere didn’t have the most impressive season at Bournemouth, although he managed to get a run of games in. However, that lasted until April when once again he picked up an injury to keep him from the pitch. He still hasn’t made an appearance for Arsenal’s first team this season, although he has been included in the Europa League squad for the Gunners.
The midfielder had started to play in the Arsenal’s U21’s to try and wean himself back into the first team. But this hasn’t been too successful as the player was sent off in his last match for violent conduct against a Manchester City Player. With both Ramsey and Xhaka underperforming in the last few games, it could be the perfect chance for the Englishman to step into the starting line-up.
He was playing more of an attacking position at Bournemouth in the midfield, there wouldn’t be a place for him there at Arsenal with Ozil in that role. When he was playing in the England set up earlier on in the year he was playing in a deeper position, where he could play for the Gunners in the next few games. Certainly, with Wenger deciding to put him in the Europa League squad, he still has him in his plans.
