Just five games into the Premier League season, only two teams remain undefeated – with Manchester City and Manchester United holding a perfect record following superb starts to the campaign.

Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho’s side took advantage of their title rivals dropping points last week to establish an early lead at the top of the table, but there is still everything to play for.

Below are my predictions for matchday six of Premier League action…

West Ham vs Tottenham

West Ham look to have finally addressed their early-season slump in form after beating Huddersfield, drawing with West Brom and knocking out Bolton in the EFL Cup. Slaven Bilic faces another tough test in the shape of Tottenham – who are looking to bounce back with a win following their goalless draw with Swansea last week. The Lilywhites have lost three of their last four away to the Hammers, and I think they’ll struggle again.

PREDICTION: 1-1

Burnley vs Huddersfield

Last season, it was Burnley’s home form that kept them in the Premier League, but this season their best form has come on the road – taking points from both Chelsea and Liverpool. Burnley lumbered on home soil against West Brom and Leeds but will be hoping to pick up three crucial points against newly promoted Huddersfield. The Terriers have made an excellent start to their debut campaign, but I think the Clarets will have too much for them at Turf Moor.

PREDICTION: 1-0

Everton vs Bournemouth

After almost £140m spent on transfers, Everton fans were hopeful of a solid season under Ronald Koeman, but instead, the Toffees are languishing in 18th place following a dreadful start. Their opening fixtures have been tough so Bournemouth will represent a welcome change from top four opposition. Bournemouth got their first win of the season last week, but I’m backing Everton to get back to winning ways against the Cherries.

PREDICTION: 2-0

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace

Roy Hodgson’s start as Crystal Palace manager does not get any easier after losing his debut game to Southampton – they now face a trip to the Etihad to play Manchester City. The Citizens continued their excellent form by destroying Watford 6-0 at Vicarage Road with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus on fire. I can’t look past Guardiola’s side especially at home, and I think the goals will flow again.

PREDICTION: 5-0

Southampton vs Manchester United

City’s rivals, Manchester United, were also in fine form once again last week as they easily dispatched of Everton at Old Trafford. Southampton narrowly picked up three points against Crystal Palace but will have their work cut out for them against the in-form Red Devils. The Saints have made a quiet but solid start to the season, but Mourinho’s men should have too much about them to not seal the win.

PREDICTION: 0-2

Stoke vs Chelsea

The Britannia Stadium is no easy place to go, as Manchester United found out two weeks ago in the 2-2 draw with the Potters. Stoke are in need of a reaction following their premature exit in the EFL Cup at the hands of Bristol City. Chelsea have also found their form following a defeat to Burnley on the first day of the season. Antonio Conte’s men will need to be ready to fight for the points which I think will be shared.

PREDICTION: 1-1

Swansea vs Watford

Watford enjoyed a decent start to the season before last week’s humbling at the hands of Manchester City while Swansea also picked up a decent point on the road to Tottenham. But at the Liberty Stadium, the Swans are yet to win this season while the Hornets have excelled on their travels. Marco Silva has got Watford playing again, and I think they’ll manage to snatch a narrow victory.

PREDICTION: 0-1

Leicester vs Liverpool

Leicester welcomed Liverpool to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup; the Foxes sent the Reds crashing out of the competition thanks to goals from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani. Saturday’s late kick-off should be an entirely different game with both sides ringing the changes in mid-week. With Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah back in the side, Liverpool should have joy going forward, but their defence continues to be a liability. I think we’ll have a score draw.

PREDICTION: 2-2

Brighton vs Newcastle

Sunday’s fixture pits two of the Premier League newcomers against each other with Brighton welcoming Newcastle to the Amex Stadium. The Magpies were victorious when the two sides met in the Championship back in February, but the Premier League is a completely different animal. Newcastle have picked up three straight wins, and I think they will continue their form at the expense of the Seagulls.

PREDICTION: 2-0

Arsenal vs West Brom

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have put a difficult start behind them and earned a respectable point on the road to Chelsea last week. The Gunners were strong defensively and had the chances to win the game against their London rivals. West Brom will sit back and look to grind out a point but Arsenal being almost guaranteed the lion share of possession, they have the players to hurt the Baggies. It won’t be pretty, but I think Wenger’s men will pick up three points at the Emirates.
