Real Madrid completed a feat that no side has ever been able to achieve when they lifted back-to-back Champions Leagues following a 4-1 demolition job of Juventus.

No team has lifted the trophy for two successive years since the Champions League era began. The last side to lift the European Cup back-to-back was AC Milan who won the famous old trophy in 1989 and 1990.

Bookmakers are already offering odds on who will be crowned as Europe’s elite next season. With their 12th title in the books, Madrid is one of the clear favourites going into 2017-18 Champions League. Before you choose your sportsbook, it’s important to know all the details on bonuses as well as the clear favourites going into the game.

THE FAVOURITES

Real Madrid

Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid are one of the favourites to become the first side in history to lift the Champions League three times in a row. Sergio Ramos has claimed that the current Madrid team are the best in the club’s history. They have arguably the strongest squad in the competition with players like Cristiano Ronaldo capable of winning games by themselves. Zinedine Zidane is expected to strengthen his squad this summer with names such as Eden Hazard being linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

Barcelona

Madrid’s rivals, Barcelona, are also one of the favourites for next season’s Champions League. The Blaugrana couldn’t get past Juventus in the semi-final of last season’s competition following one of the most memorable comebacks in history against PSG. Barcelona also failed to win La Liga which resulted in Luis Enrique losing his job. Under new boss, Ernesto Valverde, expect Barcelona to come back much stronger next year.

Bayern Munich

Germany’s dominant champion, Bayern Munich, can not be written off for next year’s Champions League. The Germans were soundly beaten by Madrid last year but have significantly strengthened their squad ahead of next campaign. Carlo Ancelotti has added highly-rated centre-back Niklas Sule and hot prospect Serge Gnabry to his squad already this summer as well as making Kingsley Coman’s stay in Munich a permanent one.

Juventus

Gianluigi Buffon was unable to add the Champions League medal that has alluded him his entire career in last month’s final but will get one more chance after confirming he will stay for one more season. Juventus were impressive throughout the tournament, but Madrid played them perfectly in the final. With stars such as Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain – they will be contenders again next season.
