Liverpool extended the gap at the top of the Premier League to nine points following a sensational 5-1 victory against Arsenal.

The Gunners took an early lead through Ainsley Maitland-Niles but were immediately pegged back when Roberto Firmino slotted home. Just 90 seconds later, Liverpool took the lead when Firmino left three Arsenal players bewildered before slotting past Bernd Leno. Jurgen Klopp’s lead was extended to three when Sadio Mane scored, and Mohamed Salah buried a penalty before the interval. It was more of the same after the break with Firmino scoring from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick. The result makes Liverpool the bookies favourite to finally lift the Premier League title and you can bet on them doing so with bet365 बोनस कोड – can Jurgen Klopp by the man to end their league hoodoo in 2019?

Here are my player ratings for the Liverpool team…

Alisson Becker – 8

Rarely troubled in the Liverpool net, nothing he could do about the Arsenal opener. Assured performance as per usual, sprayed a lovely long pass to the right wing which led to Salah earning the penalty. His £70m price tag is already starting to look like a bargain.

Trent Alexander Arnold – 7

Dealt well with the threat of Alex Iwobi who looked dangerous throughout. Often left isolated on the right flank but hardly put a front wrong. Delivered some inviting crosses and helped out the attack, another top performance from the youngster.

Dejan Lovren – 6

Defended well at times but was caught out of position on too many occasions. Sloppy passing from the back allowed Arsenal their best opportunities of the game. Played much better in the second half and helped nullify the threat of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

STAT: No-one won more aerial duels (3) than Lovren against Arsenal

Virgil van Dijk – 8

Another world-class performance from arguably the best centre-back on the planet. Made Aubameyang looked like a League One striker, oozing class in a dominant defensive display. A real leader in the Liverpool back line – Southampton will feel they’ve been robbed at £75m!

Andy Robertson – 8

Does Robertson ever stop running?! Flew up and down the left channel until he was substituted, remaining solid at the back while providing a potent attacking threat. Delivered some teasing crosses and picked out Salah beautifully in the lead up to Mane’s goal.

Gini Wijnaldum – 9 (MOTM)

The Dutchman has gone from strength-to-strength under Klopp’s guidance and was the best player on the pitch against Unai Emery’s men. Worked tirelessly to win back possession and helped his side keep composed during periods of sustained pressure. Hardly misplaced a pass and deserved his standing ovation after he was replaced by Adam Lallana.

Fabinho – 7

Started poorly misplacing passing but grew into the game. Had a terrific second half when Liverpool switched to a 4-3-3 formation, providing excellent cover to the back four. Got stuck in well and helped transition defence to attack with his range of passing.

STAT: Only Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey (4) made more successful tackles than Fabinho (3)

Xherdan Shaqiri – 7

Continued his excellent start to his Liverpool career with another solid showing. Flew into tackles and pressed the Arsenal defence hard. Constantly found a red shirt with his passing to keep the Liverpool attack flowing. Played some fantastic through balls and was unlucky not to score.

Sadio Mane – 7

A much-improved performance from the Senegal international who has looked out of sorts in recent weeks. A constant threat to the Arsenal defence with his pace and trickery – the Gunners simply couldn’t handle him. His goal will be a massive confidence boost heading into next week’s crunch fixture against Manchester City.

STAT: Sadio Mane completed more successful dribbles (5) than anyone on the field

Mohamed Salah – 7

The Egypt international was a handful for the Arsenal centre-backs bringing Mane and Firmino in the game. Showed brilliant control to win the penalty and made no mistake from 12 yards. Beautiful touch to assist Mane’s goal and will be looking for similar success against the Citizens on Thursday.

Roberto Firmino – 9

After 11 league games without a goal at Anfield, the Brazilian put in a masterclass against Emery’s men. Was on hand to tap home Liverpool’s first with a no-look finish before putting Arsenal’s defence to the sword with his wonderful second. Handed the penalty for his hat-trick and made no mistake in front of the Kop.

Jordan Henderson – 7

Injected some much-needed energy into the Liverpool engine room and helped completely stifle the Arsenal attack. Ran his socks off during his brief cameo and amused the Kop with an effort that flew miles over the bar.

Nathaniel Clyne – N/A

Adam Lallana – N/A
