Sheffield United are interested in negotiating a deal to bring Phil Jagielka back to the club, according to the The Star.
The Everton defender left the club more than ten years ago but looks set to re-join the club ahead of the new campaign. After leaving United, he has made 300 appearances for Everton.
Although he made 27 Premier League appearances for the club last season, he has decided he wants to move away from the club with Ronald Koeman admitting it in the closing stages of the season. Brammel Lane is the most likely destination for the player where he made 287 appearances before moving from Yorkshire to the North West, with the bookies making it a favourite.
The club is returning to the Championship for the first time since 2011, and have already looked to make it a positive campaign, bringing in four players so far and look to bring in even more in the coming weeks. The manager will be hoping that the player will bring some experience to the team, being an international and also captaining Everton.
The club managed to finish top of league one last season, racking up 100 points in the process, the highest by fourteen points, with Bolton coming in second place. With the club promoted it means that they’ll face their arch rivals twice next season, which Blades fans will certainly be looking forward to and will be confident of winning if Jagielka is lining up in red and white.
