Tottenham would consider allowing Harry Kane to leave the club should he wish to do so according to manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
The English forward has enjoyed another superb 12 months and recently surpassed Alan Shearer’s record for the number of goals in a calendar year. Kane is arguably the best striker in the world.
His record-breaking numbers have not gone unnoticed however as the 24-year-old has attracted interest from Real Madrid who reportedly want to make him their next ‘galactico’.
Madrid have poached a number of Tottenham stars in the past few years with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale both swapping London for the Spanish capital and Pochettino would consider allowing Kane to do the same if he wanted to.
“As Tottenham coach, I would say that if Madrid comes in with a bid, we don’t want to sell, because he will stay here and they will have to understand that.”
“If the player asks you to leave, as happened with Modric and Bale… We’ll see what happens. Today that has not happened,” Pochettino told El Chiringuito in an interview from December 19, published on Wednesday.
The allure of Madrid would be hard to ignore and offer Kane the chance to compete for trophies at the highest level in arguably the best side in Europe.
However, Zinedine Zidane’s side currently find themselves in fourth place in La Liga – a massive 14 points behind their rivals Barcelona in the race for the title.
Could Kane be the player they need to turn things around?
